Job Summary:
Northwestern University Data Analysis and Coordinating Center (NUDACC) of the Feinberg School of Medicine (FSM) is recruiting a Master's-level data scientist/statistical analyst to join a highly collegial academic environment in the expanding Division of Biostatistics and Informatics in FSM's Department of Preventive Medicine. Responsibilities will include collaboration with biostatistics faculty and research investigators on analysis of clinical and epidemiological projects under the direction of doctoral-level biostatisticians (faculty). Specific opportunities for collaborations are with the Liver Cirrhosis Network (LCN) studies and with the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Ulcerative Colitis (HBOT-UC) trial. Duties will include maintenance of ongoing data status and quality reports, generation of reports for Data and Safety Monitoring Boards, and implementation statistical analysis plans across all studies.
Responsibilities will also include ensuring data integrity, quality, and timeliness of results and data preparation for public access. Level of appointment and responsibilities will be commensurate with experience and education.
Target hiring range for this position will be between $70,017 - $80,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Specific Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
- Manages and plans for data/analysis requests and projects.
- Provides consultation to customers on appropriate data management, methodological issues and statistical analyses.
- Collaborates with technical staff explaining needs of functional users. Serve on committees related to data structure and governance.
- Assist in development of statistical analysis plans
Administration
- Reviews reports before presentation to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Develops and maintains documentation of process for quality assurance and reporting methodology
- Defines, develops and communicates new standards and best practices.
- Maintains study databases; runs ad hoc queries and analyses
- Cleans and organizes data in preparation for analysis
- Prepares and edits data summaries on a weekly basis
- Help interpret results and write reports; prepares tables, figures, and graphs for publications and presentations.
Development
- Develops queries and quality metrics.
- Interprets results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex statistical analysis.
- Determines data structure for local datasets.
Performance
- Develops and documents standards for data quality and regulatory compliance pertaining to reporting.
- Ensures quality and compliance by reviewing reports
- Perform range, logic and consistency checks, reporting errors when necessary.
- Prepare analysis programs and reports to monitor data accrual and quality
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in data science, biostatistics or statistics; or equivalent level of education or experience
Proficiency with SAS or R, and SQL, programming for data management and analysis
Commitment to writing clean, well-documented code
Ability to work independently to efficiently accomplish specific responsibilities

Experience with SQL or similar - preferred but not required
Experience with managing and analyzing retrospective and prospective cohort data
