Position Summary/ Department Summary:
A short-term job for new Respiratory Therapy employees, from out of state or recent graduate, who is credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care, has submitted an application for MA licensure but has not received a license to practice prior to the agreed upon start of employment. The employee may actively train to administer respiratory care and life support to neonatal, pediatric and adolescent patients with acute and chronic disease states. However, a Respiratory Therapist Trainee may not provide hands-on care to patients as they are awaiting an official license to practice Respiratory Care in MA.

Key Responsibilities:
* Learns to apply and monitor mechanical ventilation.
Learns to provide various respiratory therapies in critical care, inpatient, outpatient and emergency settings.
* Observes patient care in assigned clinical area and completes associated duties not involving patient care.
* Communicates with care team, patients and their family members, and co-workers.
* Participates in professional development.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

Associate's Degree is required. Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Respiratory Therapy area of study.

Experience:
No experience is required.

Licensure/ Certifications:
Awaiting current state licensure and registration by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Health, Board of Registration in Respiratory Care as a Respiratory Therapist is required.

A trainee may be a certified or registered respiratory therapist as awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care is preferred.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
