Our esteemed dental practice is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Dental Services Provider. The University of New Mexico is seeking faculty at the Temporary Part-Time (TPT) General Dentist to join the Department of Dental Medicine, Division of Dental Services. The Department of Dental Medicine has a primary mission of delivering education and a full spectrum of clinical care. Position Summary The University of New Mexico Department of Dental Medicine is seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Part-Time (TPT) General Dentist to provide targeted administrative and program support ensuring dental residents meet specialty training, procedural, and accreditation requirements. This position supports residency education in areas including maxillofacial surgery, implant dentistry, and other required specialty rotations.
This role is essential to maintaining compliance with accreditation and program standards, reducing administrative burden on faculty, and ensuring residents complete all required clinical experiences and case minimums in a timely and well-documented manner.

Work Schedule & Appointment This is a Temporary Part-Time (TPT) position at 0.05 FTE, designed to provide focused support for residency compliance and accreditation needs.

Key Responsibilities
* Track resident clinical case requirements for maxillofacial surgery, implant procedures, and other specialty competencies
* Monitor resident progress toward required procedural minimums and accreditation standards
* Maintain accurate logs and documentation of completed cases and specialty rotations
* Prepare reports and summaries for residency program leadership related to compliance and resident progress
* Assist with preparation for accreditation reviews, site visits, and internal audits
* Communicate with residents and faculty regarding scheduling, requirements, and completion status
* Coordinate resident schedules with internal and external specialty providers
* Support continuous quality improvement by identifying gaps in tracking, documentation, or compliance processes

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

*Doctorate degree in Dental Surgery or Dental Medicine
*At least 1 year of directly related experience completing dental treatments for patients with Special Needs
*Licensure or ability to obtain licensure from New Mexico Board of Dental Health Care
*Completion of an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program or equivalent from a Commission on Dental Accreditation institution

Preferred Qualifications:

*Experience in the practice of the full scope general dentistry
*Experience working with dental residents
*Demonstrated skills for complicated surgical extractions at the higher level of general dentists
*Some experience with hospital dentistry
*Niche interest or experience in general dentistry - implants, surgery, restoration, special needs etc.
*Certification by either the American Board of Oral Medicine or American Board of Special Care Dentistry
*A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
