Proposes and undertakes a mentored, innovative project or challenge. Designs and performs related experiments, analyzes and presents the outcome.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Meet regularly with the mentor to review project status, and contribute novel scientific ideas for the progression of the research project. * Read, analyze and summarize published literature to know current research work and gain intellectual and technical expertise in the field.
* Write and submit manuscripts to peer reviewed journals. Complete sponsor-mandated reports on research progress. * Prepare presentations and exhibit research work in various national and international scientific meetings and conferences. * Continue career development under the auspices of the mentor, including coursework EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Doctoral degree (MD or PhD) with postdoc lab research experience preferred.
