Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Dean of Students Office is seeking a self-motivated, professional, and reliable individual to provide professional customer service and reception support. Our office directs the Nusenda Center for Financial Capability, Student Rights & Responsibilities, Lobo Well-Being, and other programs designed to help students achieve their academic goals. As an Office Assistant, you'll help keep our office running smoothly and assist students in navigating university services.
This position will start training during Spring 2026 and has the opportunity to continue into the 2026-2027 academic year. Work-study is preferred but not required for consideration. Applicants must be able to work in-person on Main Campus during regular business hours Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Greets students, staff, faculty, and visitors
  • Answers multi-line phones and receives in-person inquiries in a professional manner
  • Maintains a log of inquiries, calls, and other communications
  • Opens and routes incoming & outgoing mail
  • Performs clerical, data entry, and word processing work
  • Assists with records management, including filing, copying, and scanning
  • May schedule or assist in scheduling appointments, meetings, and/or conference room reservations
  • May run various campus errands
  • Addresses Student inquiries and provides intake for department staff
  • Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

  • A diplomatic and professional approach to conflict.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office. Adobe Acrobat and Banner experience is a plus.
  • Experience in an office environment
