Macmillan Audio seeks an analytical, creative, and trend-focused Associate/Associate Marketing Manager, Backlist and Trends, to drive discoverability and sales for our extensive and rapidly growing audiobook catalog. This role will focus on creating holistic marketing strategies for specific genres and verticals, leveraging data analytics to identify untapped opportunities within our core catalog. This role will report to the Marketing Director.

What you'll do:



  • Backlist Strategy & Execution: Lead marketing initiatives for backlist titles and themed groupings, including specialized verticals and media tie-ins.
  • Trend Analysis: Proactively monitor publishing shifts, social media trends, and cultural moments to mine the frontlist and backlist for titles that can be resurfaced to the market.
  • Data-Driven Account Support: Work closely with the account team to identify backlist titles for price promotions and curate themed groupings.
  • Lifecycle Analytics: Analyze the results of backlist promotions and use those insights to inform future strategy and "always-on" marketing opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with broader Macmillan teams and internal stakeholders (Social, Advertising, and Editorial) to integrate audio into larger company-wide initiatives.
  • Seasonal Campaigns: Identify holiday-specific or monthly cultural opportunities to highlight catalog titles through targeted digital efforts.


What you'll bring:



  • Analytical Proficiency: Strong Excel skills and Power BI experience with a proven ability to interpret sales data and marketing metrics to identify trends and actionable opportunities.
  • Data-Informed Creativity: Leverage sales analytics to develop and execute targeted marketing strategies that capitalize on emerging trends.


  • Strategic Thinking: Create overarching plans for niche audiences while maintaining an understanding of broader catalog and trends.
  • Strong Communication: Ability to disseminate data findings through clear written recaps and verbal presentations to stakeholders.
  • Organizational Agility: Balance detailed-oriented work with the ability to manage marketing efforts for hundreds of titles simultaneously.
  • Collaborative Mindset: A self-starter who can work effectively across different departments and interests to maximize catalog visibility.


Experience Needed:



  • Associate: At least 2-3 years of experience in marketing, preferably within book publishing.
  • Associate Manager: At least 3-5 years of experience in marketing, preferably within book publishing.
  • Proven experience using data to drive marketing decisions or promotional strategies.
  • College degree or equivalent professional experience required.


Salary range for this position is between (Associate) $52,000-$55,000 and (Associate Manager) $60,000-$65,000 depending on experience.

This position is classified as remote but is tied to our New York, NY office located at 120 Broadway. Employment is subject to New York State tax withholding under applicable regulations.
