At Pacific Life, this isn't just a job; it's a career with purpose, balance, and the resources to help you do your best work.

As a Senior Test Engineer I, you will play an important role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of cloud-based solutions supporting the Consumer Markets Division (CMD). You will work as a key quality partner within a dedicated, self-organizing, cross-functional agile team delivering next-generation systems on the AWS cloud.

This role emphasizes hands-on quality engineering and close collaboration with development teams, embedding testing and quality practices throughout the software development lifecycle.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, Product Owners, and architects to ensure quality and testability are considered early in design and development.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements to design effective test approaches and coverage strategies.
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated and manual tests across UI, API, integration, and data layers.
  • Support shift-left testing practices by partnering with developers on unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Validate integrations, data flows, and business rules across cloud-based systems.
  • Execute functional, regression, exploratory, and production readiness testing to support reliable releases.
  • Identify, document, and track defects, working collaboratively with development teams to drive resolution.
  • Contribute to test automation frameworks and continuous testing within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, and sprint planning to advocate for quality and risk awareness.
  • Communicate test results, quality risks, and recommendations clearly to team members and stakeholders.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve test efficiency, coverage, and collaboration.
The Experience You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in software testing or quality engineering in an agile environment.
  • Experience working closely with development teams in an embedded or highly collaborative model.
  • Hands-on experience testing cloud-based applications, including APIs and data integrations.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services and modern SDLC practices.
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (UI, API, and/or integration testing).
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases and validating data-driven applications.
  • Experience testing applications built with technologies such as Python, C#, .NET Core, and modern web frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of test planning, defect management, and quality best practices.
  • Solid communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams.
What Will Make You Stand Out
  • Experience in Financial Services, particularly Annuities or Insurance products.
  • Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing strategies.
  • A collaborative, quality-focused mindset with a passion for working alongside developers to deliver reliable software.
