Inova Children's Multispecialty at 8280 Willow Oaks is looking for a dedicated Medical Interpreter to join the team. This role is Full-time working 8am-4:30pm Monday to Friday.

Medical Interpreter Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates flexibility to know which requests take priority.

  • Prioritizes competing demands from staff requesting medical interpreter services.

  • Ensures that oral messages are transmitted accurately, completely and transparently.

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families and staff.

  • Records and monitors interpretation activities according to hospital and department standards.

  • Promotes the highest level of professionalism and customer service when interacting with all hospital customers.

  • Demonstrates sensitivity, maturity, composure and objectivity when communicating with customers during stressful times.

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with clinical managers, directors and staff to ensure that the hospital interpreting services needs are met.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Associates degree or HS Diploma/GED and 2 additional years of experience
  • Experience: 3 years of medical interpreting
  • Certification: Upon start, 40-hour, Bridging the Gap, Medical Interpreter Certificate or equivalent 40-hour training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual with Spanish proficiency

  • Pediatrics medical interpretation experience
