About this Role - Lead Estimator We are looking for a talented Lead Estimator who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for leading the regional estimating process and independently developing cost estimates for overhead transmission, distribution and substation electrical utility construction projects. What You'll Do - Supervise staff and manage the performance of department members to include Estimators and Jr. Estimators - Lead the regional estimating team in scoping projects for engineering, construction, and contractual requirements. Oversee the request for overhead transmission, overhead distribution and substation related proposal preparation and evaluations, project specifications, and pricing schedules. - Lead the development efforts of standardized historical cost databases and application tools to aid future estimates. - Provide expert judgment of costs to support competitive bid and negotiated contracts. - Work closely with Project Management, Operations and Project Controls to refine submittals, pricing, bid strategy and project progress. - Manage the development of pricing schedules and weighting criteria for proposal evaluations. - Present project proposals and estimates to clients, owners and Sr. Management - Assist in job hand off from estimating to field project supervision. - Prepare project estimates based on limited information and general scopes of work, often lacking specific precedence. - Develop detailed project estimates based on company standards and site-specific facility drawings. - Perform material take-offs and cost analyses to support estimates. - Work with the MJE Purchasing Department on material orders and required submittals - Quote change orders from drawing changes, RFI's, etc. - Travel to project(s) as needed What You'll Bring - Ability to work independently and meet deadlines - Ability to manage the performance of team members - Ability to anticipate and meet internal customer needs - Proven communication, organizational and interpersonal skills - Ability to maintain confidentiality - Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook - Knowledge of Acubid or other estimating software programs - Proficient in the use of Excel - Knowledge of overhead transmission and overhead distribution electrical construction practices - Knowledge of contract law, engineering and estimating principles - Demonstrated experience with Request for Proposal preparation and evaluation - Demonstrated experience estimating projects throughout their life cycle - Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings and read and create electrical one-line diagrams - Extensive understanding of engineering and construction pricing - BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience - 7+ years of estimating, project management, design or construction management experience with a focus on T&D projects Work Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position over 50% of the time - The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc - Continuously operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, scanner, and computer printer - The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and coworkers and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations - Occasionally lifting 20 pounds What You'll Get - 401(k) with company match (Traditional & Roth) - Paid Holidays and PTO - Medical, Dental, and Vision - Flexible Spending Accounts - Health Savings Account - Accident Insurance - Hospital Indemnity Insurance - Critical Illness Insurance - Lifelock Identity Theft Protection - Employee Discounts - Short-Term & Long-Term Disability For more benefit details click here! | |
