Medical Receptionist - Prior Authorization Specialist

Richmond, VA

Pay From: $21 per hour

MUST:

The Medical Receptionist - Prior Authorization Specialist must have experience:

3 plus years of prior authorization experience in a high-volume doctor's office setting

Strong proficiency in medical terminology and the ability to interpret clinical documentation

Experience in insurance verification and authorization processes within a specialty or outpatient setting

Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in documentation and data entry

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate professionally across teams

Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment

DUTIES:

Review, initiate, and process prior authorization requests for vascular procedures, diagnostic studies, and treatments

Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility to determine authorization requirements

Ensure all required clinical documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted promptly

Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance carriers, and patients to obtain necessary information and resolve outstanding items

Apply medical coding knowledge when reviewing orders and documentation

Collaborate closely with physicians, ultrasound technologists, and the medical office team to support timely patient scheduling and care delivery

Stay informed on payer policy updates, authorization requirements, and industry regulations affecting vascular services
