Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the department of Neurosurgery at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral Associate will be responsible for the design, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of experiments regarding the study of the pathophysiology of epilepsy or seizure disorders using murine models and human patients. The Postdoctoral Associate will perform small animal surgeries, molecular, cellular and electrophysiological experiments with the goal of developing a wearable device to prevent seizure-induced respiratory disruption.. In addition, this position will be overseeing the research work of residents, junior research assistants, graduate students and student workers in the laboratory. The Postdoctoral Associate will assist with scientific operations of the laboratory; and submit grant applications to obtain independent research funding.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Conducts research processes and procedures in the laboratory.
- Assists in the acquisition and analysis of data.
- Supports the Principal Investigator's plans, developments, and implementations of laboratory and research studies.
- Assists with the instructing and training of junior laboratory personnel.
- Prepares manuscripts, written reports of research experiments, grant applications, and slides for scientific presentations.
- Gives oral presentations of the research.
- Collaborates with internal and external researchers on analyzing and interpreting data.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- PhD degree in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related scientific field.
- Candidates in ABD (all but degree) status will also be considered.
