Division of Animal Sciences

Job Description

The University of Missouri's Division of Animal Sciences seeks applicants for the position of Senior Educational Program Coordinator. This position provides essential educational and instructional support for the Division through classroom teaching assistance, undergraduate advising, and management of the sheep teaching herd. The role directly supports student learning, engagement, and hands-on teaching experiences within the Animal Sciences curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Academic Support

  • Assist in teaching AN_SCI 2214: Animal Products and Biotechnology, including laboratory instruction and classroom support.
  • Develop, update, and produce lab curriculum and instructional materials that enhance student understanding of methods used to evaluate and measure animal product quality.
  • Correspond with students regarding coursework, accommodations, scheduling, and academic needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Advise an average of 75 undergraduate Animal Sciences majors, supporting their academic planning, degree progress, and engagement with departmental opportunities.
  • Assist with planning and organizing undergraduate-focused events, including Student Welcome programs, undergraduate activities and annual awards ceremony.

Teaching Herd Management

  • Provide daily care and oversight of the sheep teaching herd in alignment with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor animal health, behavior, and welfare, reporting concerns to faculty or supervisory staff.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to ensure animals are appropriately prepared and available for; Teaching laboratories, Livestock judging team needs, and various outreach and academic activities.
  • Assist in the handling, movement, and preparation of animals for classes and events, including transportation to the Trowbridge Livestock Center and other facilities as needed.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized facilities that support high-quality animal care and teaching operations.

8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Monday - Friday

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary including classroom and student interaction and animal handling.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $52,915.20 - $56,000.00 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
