Being part of P&C Asset Management and Strategy team is an exciting opportunity to create futuristic P&C design integrating technology and innovation for Con Edisons unique electric system.

The primary function of this role is to support the P&C Asset Management & Strategy Team in developing, maintaining, and updating the newly created Protection and Control (P&C) Asset Management Database (Doble PowerBase). This is a unique opportunity to maintain and improve a massive database as well as work on systems that will improve Central Engineering business operations. The ideal candidate will have experience using programming languages like Python/SQL to manipulate, query, and analyze large, highly structured datasets using a variety of techniques and technologies. The candidate will also be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of dashboards displaying analytics using PowerBI.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Asset Management: Manages asset creation, updates, and deletions within PowerBase, including defining new asset types, security controls, and workflows. Partners with the MAXIMO Asset Management, field, and engineering teams to ensure asset data accuracy and system alignment.
  • Day to day Operations: Addresses data cleanup and resolves PowerBase issues, proactively notifying stakeholders of impacts and resolution status. Works closely with vendor support teams to troubleshoot issues while delivering a positive customer experience for all end users.
  • Data Visualization and Export: Develops and maintains customized dashboards tailored to specific users. Assists users by creating customized data queries and generating reports as needed.
  • Automated Alerts based on Business Workflow: Creates and maintains automatic alerts aligned with business processes, such as the settings reviewing process. Generates scheduled data reports to aid the management team, emphasizing relevant KPIs impacting business performance.
  • Operating Documents: Maintains PowerBase documentation, develops job aids and training, and enforces data governance standards.
  • User Experience and Interface Enhancement: Collects enduser feedback to continuously enhance database functionality and improve the user interface and overall experience.
  • Cybersecurity: Ensures compliance with applicable NERC CIP standards by partnering with IT and vendor support teams to maintain data security at rest and in transit. Provides required reports and data to support internal and external audit activities.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline and 2 years of relevant work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Data science background is required with knowledge of SQL and database administration, required.
  • Strong technical competence and willingness to learn, required.
  • Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), required.
  • Experience with PowerBI and scripting in various programming languages (ex: Java, Python, C++, etc.), required.
  • Ability to write specifications and standards and coordinate engineering projects and assignments, required.
  • Aptitude to learn power systems and Protection and Control Systems to improve the data and the workflows within the Relay Settings Database, required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues, internal/external customers, regulatory agencies, and various levels of management, required.
  • Demonstrate analytical ability and the capability to solve problems associated with data analysis, required.
  • Experience working with Doble PowerBase, preferred.
  • Prior work experience in database administration, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of relay protection systems, preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
  • Other: Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate Preferred
Physical Demands
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
  • Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
