Department Overview

Electric Operations ensures safe and reliable delivery of electricity and is responsible for planning, engineering, construction, maintenance, restoration, and emergency response across PG&E's electric transmission and distribution system. Within Electric Operations, the TLine & Substation Project Management team delivers largescale capital projects critical to system reliability and public safety.

Position Summary

The TLine & Substation Project Management Intern is a developmental, learningfocused role designed to provide handson exposure to electric transmission and substation project execution. The intern will work alongside experienced Project Managers and Project Controls professionals to observe, learn, and support daytoday project management activities. This role emphasizes learning by doing, with structured opportunities to gain familiarity with project lifecycle processes, field execution, cost and schedule tracking, and internal PG&E systems and reporting tools.

The intern will not be accountable for independent project decisions, but will support the team through analytical, administrative, and coordination tasks while developing foundational project management skills

PG&E isprovidingthe hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $24.52 to $35.37

Responsibilities

The intern may support the project management team in the following ways:

  • Shadow Project Managers during field visits to active transmission and substation construction sites to observe execution, safety practices, and contractor coordination
  • Review project schedules and progress updates under supervision to understand sequencing, critical path concepts, and milestone tracking
  • Assist with tracking project status across a portfolio using existing dashboards and reports
  • Run standard reports and assist with basic data validation and organization
  • Support monthly cost activities, including accrual preparation and review, under direction of Project Managers or Project Controls Analysts
  • Attend project status meetings, take meeting notes, and track followup action items
  • Assist with maintaining project documentation in accordance with PG&E records management and project governance requirements
  • Observe risk identification discussions and learn how risks and mitigations are documented and managed
  • Collaborate with team members to support adhoc analyses, presentations, or operational reviews as needed

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the internship, the individual is expected to:

  • Understand the lifecycle of electric transmission and substation projects at a high level
  • Gain exposure to PG&E project management standards, tools, and governance processes
  • Develop foundational skills in schedule review, cost tracking, meeting facilitation support, and professional communication
  • Build awareness of field operations, safety expectations, and crossfunctional coordination

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Continuing education toward degree during and/or after the internship
  • Valid driver's license (or ability to obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date)

Desired Qualifications

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Prior internship, coursework, or exposure related to utilities, construction, engineering, or project management
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to learn in a team environment and take direction from multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated initiative and interest in project delivery and infrastructure work
