POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Business Development Executive plays a pivotal role in driving the growth and expansion of the organization by creating new business opportunities, cultivating strong client relationships, and strategically positioning our engineering solutions to meet market demands. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with technical teams to understand service capabilities and translate them into compelling value propositions for prospective clients. By leveraging industry knowledge and market insights, this role aims to increase revenue streams and enhance the company's competitive advantage. The Business Development Executive will be instrumental in shaping the company's market presence and growth.
Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through the development of relationships with key decision-makers, owners, and industry partners.
- Partner closely with Directors and Project Executives to understand departmental growth goals and provide business development support where gaps exist.
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking activities to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
- May collaborate with technical teams and marketing staff during proposal preparation, ensuring that proposed solutions address client challenges and create a competitive advantage for the firm to successfully obtain the work.
- Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations, proposals, and negotiations to secure contracts and partnerships.
- Monitor industry developments, competitor activities, and market conditions to inform strategic business decisions.
- Partner with the operations leaders to manage the sales pipeline and report on progress, forecasts, and key performance indicators to senior management.
- Engage in client-facing activities, including face-to-face meetings, to support relationship development.
- Capture, report and manage the sales cycle for opportunities using Deltek Vantagepoint (CRM).
- Contribute to strategic planning and development of business development and marketing plans.
- Lead and perform duties related to industry events, trade shows, customer relationship functions and marketing events.
- Proactively identify and develop technical skills and industry knowledge to ensure alignment with emerging market trends and competitive demands.
- Explore opportunities with new markets, new geographies, and new clients.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
- Ten plus years of business development experience within the engineering, architectural, or building systems design industry.
- Demonstrated ability to acquire new projects and cultivate robust client relationships within the building and infrastructure industries.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in a clear manner to internal staff, management, and clients.
- Organization and pipeline management abilities; proficiency with CRM and Sales Intelligence tools.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding professional services sales targets and driving revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of design engineering concepts and the design process.
- Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application, including MS Office suite.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future.
- Travel: May include 25-40% domestic travel (will vary depending on industry events, client visits or tradeshows).
Preferred
- Experience working within the engineering design consulting industry with exposure to manufacturing, chemical, food ingredients, and or/medical device industries preferred.
- Master's degree in business administration (MBA) Engineering or related field.
- Established network of contacts within the design engineering industry.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends impacting design engineering services.
- Familiarity with CRM software (Deltek Vantagepoint preferred) and sales analytics tools.
Working Conditions
- May require extended periods of time sitting at a desk or computer workstation.
- Some work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites.

Salary Range: $118,000 - $148,000 annually. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual qualifications, experience, work location, and education. This position is eligible for an annual bonus.
