OVERVIEW: The Corporate Safety Director leads the company's safety strategy and day-to-day safety program to drive safety culture throughout the organization, reduce risk and prevent injuries and ensure compliance with OSHA and other client and industry requirements. This role develops and improves safety programs, audits in the field activities directs programs that enhance driver safety and equipment handling safety, analyzes safety performance metrics, leads incident investigations, and drives corrective and preventive actions through training and cross-functional partnership.

DURING YOUR WORK DAY, YOU WILL:



  • Own and enforce corporate safety programs and policies to prevent injuries, incidents, and property damage.


  • Track and report safety performance metrics, including DART (Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred), TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate), and EMR (Experience Modification Rate); identify trends and lead actions to improve performance.
  • Develop and maintain safety policies, standards, and procedures that support company operations and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee fleet safety leveraging telematics (Samsara), to reduce vehicle incidents, improve driver behavior, and limit liability exposure.
  • Administer the Vector EHS platform (safety data system of record), including data quality, reporting, and user support as needed.
  • Ensure completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting, compliance with internal safety policies and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.


  • Contribute to strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the company in collaboration with senior management.


  • Chair the Accident Review Board and safety committee; establish goals, document outcomes, and demonstrate return on investment (ROI) for safety initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Conduct employee training on applicable safety standards.
  • Review safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
  • Prepare documentation for vehicle and workers' compensation claims and support claim submission and follow-up.
  • Analyze incident and near-miss reports to identify root causes, recurring trends, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:



  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive safety leadership experience in an engineering, surveying and/or construction environment (or equivalent scope and complexity).
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including hiring, coaching/performance management, and team development.
  • In-depth knowledge of EMR, DART and TRIR metrics, the key elements that determine each, and the drivers that result in better than industry average results.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and best practices for occupational safety programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
