POSITION SPECIFICS

The Department of Physics at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park campus) invites applications for a faculty position to start in Fall 2026. We are conducting a search at the level of full professor, with tenure. We are particularly interested in the field of experimental biophysics, with a focus on imaging and advanced microscopy. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Engineering and an outstanding research record. The successful candidate will be expected to build a world-class research program, teach graduate and undergraduate courses, and perform university service and public outreach. The department values interdisciplinary research and is open to the possibility of joint hires with allied departments such as Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, as well as the Materials Research Institute and the Institute for Computational and Data Sciences at Penn State.

  • A brief cover letter (maximum of 2 pages) that highlights the applicant's most relevant qualifications for a faculty position at Penn State.

    • Overview of goals/vision of your research program in context of our department and institution

    • Your most significant scientific accomplishments

    • A summary of experiences and qualifications that position you to achieve your goals

  • Curriculum vitae including a list of publications.

  • Two statements addressing:

    • Research accomplishments, plans, and vision (up to 4 pages, including figures and references),

    • Teaching experience, philosophy, and/or interests (1 page)

Application materials may comprise no more than 5 documents, each with a size limit of 5MB. Applicants may need to combine materials to meet the 5-document limit and should ensure all documents are uploaded and correct prior to final submission.
