GENERAL SUMMARY: The Radiology & GI Director administers, directs and is responsible for the management and supervision of the Radiology and Gastrointestinal departments. PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2. *Develops and encourages original approaches to problem identification, evaluation and solution. 3. *Supervises, counsels, coaches and disciplines staff as needed; delegates work activities and responsibilities to staff as appropriate. 4. Advances work knowledge by participating in continuing education inservices, reading periodicals/literature and seeking ongoing development opportunities. 5. *Completes coaching sessions, performance reviews, and pay adjustments on time for departmental management personnel. 6. Identifies, documents and communicates departmental goals and objectives; develops action plans to support stated goals and objectives. 7. Conducts research into new procedures and equipment; evaluates and selects new equipment with input from appropriate staff and managers. 8. *Consults with physicians regarding services offered by the department; involves the physicians in planning and design of new services and in the day-to-day operations of the department. 9. *Complies with standards and requirements of regulatory agencies. 10. Reviews/updates area policies and procedures as needed. 11. Communicates and interacts with other departmental personnel to coordinate activities. 12. Represents the Medical Center on designated committees. 13. Maintains a safe working environment for staff and patients; ensures equipment is maintained at a level to meet manufacturers performance specifications. 14. *Completes budget process within the time frame and format specified; monitors budget compliance monthly and justifies variances. 15. Reviews contracts with outside agencies annually and participates in renegotiation as necessary. 16. *Develops and maintains area quality initiatives/plans; monitors quality and appropriateness of service; submits written reports as required. 17. Reviews/updates departmental standards for quality assurance, safety, and infection control. 18. *Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures. Joint Commission requirements for Directors and Senior Leaders are provided in an addendum to this job description. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in a medical field related to radiology required. Masters degree preferred. Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) certification preferred. Minimum of five (5) experience in clinical practice area required. Technical registration in a related clinical field preferred. Membership in the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators desired. OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Under the Nebraska Radiation Control Act governing the Gamma Knife, employees in this job description are required to be deemed trustworthy and reliable.
