On-Call Chaplain

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks an On-Call Chaplain for their Spiritual Care department responsible for providing spiritual care to patients, families, hospital personnel, and medical staff by assisting them in the integration of the experience of illness, trauma, and loss with their own beliefs and practices. Serves as a liaison with physicians, patient, families, and the Ethics Committee in addressing ethical issues regarding treatment decisions. Works closely with community spiritual leaders to ensure continuity of spiritual care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

Education:

  • Minimum: Master's degree in theology or related field and successful completion of one unit of CPE/CPT from an accredited certifying organization.
  • Preferred: One additional CPE/CPT unit from a leading certifying organization.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Preferred: Chaplaincy Board Certification through a leading certifying organization.

Years of Related Work Experience:

  • Minimum: Experience working with people addressing spiritual and ethical issues.
  • Preferred: Six months working in a hospital chaplaincy program.

*Pay for non-physician positions is determined based on related years of experience and internal equity. Eligible employees may also receive additional forms of compensation, including shift differentials, on-call pay, incentive pay, and bonus opportunities, where applicable. Manager and above positions may participate in Cottage Health's annual management incentive program. Physician compensation is determined based upon specialty and may include bonus potential.
