As a Legal Support Assistant, you'll handle a variety of specialized, entry-level clerical support duties. You'll be responsible for preparing cases for assignment, managing general administrative and court tasks, and providing statutory notifications. You'll also research case information from databases, communicate essential criminal justice information to victims, and distribute mail. We Require
Two years of administrative experience High school diploma or GED Post-secondary education may substitute for the minimum experience on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
Valid Arizona driver's license upon hire The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement

Job Contributions
Works with a team to support crime victims Enters and retrieves case information from various databases Performs statistical data collection and tracking Researches and communicates case information Prepares cases for assignment and generates corresponding case-related documents Attend monthly Victim Compensation Board meetings and take minutes at meeting Enter decisions rendered from the Victim Compensation Board Enter new applications in a specialized data system and build Victim Compensation claims Update the Victim Compensation Board Meeting Agenda and Public Notice. Maintain compliance with the Victim Compensation Program rules Provides reception relief/coverage; answers multi-line telephone - answers general information questions, transfers calls, takes messages Reviews an electronic minute entry folder. Retrieves and distributes electronic pleadings and minute entries. Retrieves and distributes data-based reminders Generates notifications as required by Victim Rights statutes Develops and maintains positive and productive working relationships with co-workers and crime victims using principles of good customer service Communicates court hearing information to victims Victim contact to inform of case-related events Assists in training new Legal support assistants Works with crime victims Work in the presence of or with a trained canine that comforts victims
Working Conditions
Mostly office setting-cubicles in open floor plan Ability to work efficiently in a high volume, fast-paced environment Requires long periods of sitting/standing at desk/computer Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and perform duties at 90% accuracy Ability to travel to and from various county locations for meetings and trainings, utilizing personal or county vehicle Ability to lift/carry/move items weighing up to 25 pounds Exposure to graphic and violent materials A hybrid work schedule can be considered after your first 6 months of employment. This is based on the business needs at the time of the request
