Your Role: Hands-On, Impactful, and Fast-Paced

As a Construction Materials Testing Project Manager in Columbia, SC you'll be the person who keeps projects moving and makes sure the work in the field meets the standards it should. You'll manage projects, work alongside field and engineering teams, troubleshoot issues as they come up, and stay involved with clients and contractors throughout the process.

This is a role for someone who wants more than a desk and a list of tasks. You'll have a voice in how projects are run, opportunities to mentor others, and the chance to use your technical experience while taking on greater responsibility for clients, projects, and the business.




  • Project Management: Take ownership of CMT and Special Inspection projects throughout the project lifecycle, managing budgets, schedules, staffing, and technical requirements while ensuring work meets project plans, specifications, and applicable IBC standards.
  • Client & Contractor Coordination: Serve as a key point of contact for clients and contractors, attending project meetings and site visits to understand needs, address concerns, communicate progress, and keep projects moving forward.
  • Technical Leadership & Team Development: Provide technical direction in the field, review inspection and testing documentation, and coach technicians and engineers to promote accurate work, thorough reporting, and consistent quality.
  • Proposals, Reporting & Quality Assurance: Prepare and review project reports, proposals, scopes, and estimates, ensuring deliverables are accurate, complete, aligned with client expectations, and delivered on schedule.
  • Client Growth & Industry Engagement: Strengthen existing client relationships while identifying new opportunities through networking, industry involvement, and participation in organizations such as ASCE, AGC, and ACEC. Support marketing initiatives that increase visibility and expand the local business.



What We're Looking For:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or a related Engineering discipline
  • A minimum of 4 years of Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and Special Inspection (SI) experience, including at least 2 years in a project management role
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire

    • Active ICC, ACI, and DOT certifications preferred


  • A Strong working knowledge of applicable ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, DOT standards, and IBC Special Inspections requirements
  • An excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • The ability to develop, review, and deliver accurate technical reports and project documentation



What to Expect:

With the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).



  • Outdoor, hands-on work in all weather conditions
  • Walking over rough terrain and standing for long periods (up to 12 hours)
  • Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of materials and equipment
  • Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
