Tax Associate

Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking a partnership-track associate to join our Tax Department in New York. The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of transactional law experience, with an emphasis in structured finance, RICs, project finance and/or financing transactions generally, and a demonstrated interest in finance. An LLM in tax, MBA, or prior experience at the Treasury, IRS, Congressional Tax Committee, or Tax Court would be helpful, but is not required.

Strong communication and client relations skills, an ability to spot issues and translate complex legal concepts into plain English, and the ability to simultaneously handle multiple transactions are essential. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills, superior academic credentials, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Candidates must be members in good standing in, or eligible to waive into, the Bar in New York.

After an initial in-office integration period, Chapman attorneys may work on a hybrid in-office/remote basis.

In accordance with the New York Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this New York position is between $260,000 to $365,000. The benefits overview for this position is available for review at the below link.
