Job Type: Term (Fixed Term)RAND's Center on AI, Security, and Technology (CAST) is seeking an Associate Director of Operationsto lead the center's core operations, including strategic planning, recruiting, and key stakeholder management. CAST is the merger of the TASP Center on AI policy and the Meselson Center on AI security and biosecurity. In less than three years since those centers started, we've grown to about 75 full-time staff and published key research in each of those three areas, including on Securing AI Model Weights, Verifying International Agreements, Unlocking AI Energy Production, and Policy Options to Prevent the Creation of Mirror Life. Education A bachelor's degree in business administration, public policy, political science, or similar discipline. Master's degree in a relevant field preferred. Security Clearance Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government clearance is preferred but not required. Location We are hiring for this position in our RAND offices in Washington, DC; San Francisco, CA, Santa Monica, CA; Pittsburgh, PA; and Boston, MA. We offer a hybrid work arrangement, combining work from home and on-site options. Term The Associate Director of Operations is a three-year term position with a possibility of longer-term employment. Salary Range Project Manager IV $120,900-$184,500 RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate's work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity.The salary range includes base pay plus RAND's sabbatic pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken).
