Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY
Guides daily HTM / Biomed production support for assigned medical centers, ambulatory locations, and clinics, while providing direct supervision to technical staff. Serves as a primary liaison for key stakeholders including Clinical departmental leadership, Suppliers, and other work units. Ensures efficient workflow management by overseeing staff scheduling, handling escalations, and optimizing local Biomed department efficiency. Monitors work order completion to service excellence standards. Ensures proper LEAN Six Sigma application within assigned workspaces, including 5S, inventory management, and workflow optimization. Responsible for independently implementing and supervising technical staff to implement preventive maintenance, electrical safety and performance verification, and bench and field service repairs on most medical electronic equipment. Occasionally, assists in and coordinates equipment installations and project work. Leads and develops lower-level technicians through training and performance management. Provides in-servicing to clinical staff on most medical equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Guides daily production support while providing direct supervision of technical staff. Serves as the primary liaison for stakeholders with complex or escalating issues. May coordinate or oversee equipment installations and project work involving patient care and medical communications technology. Provides supervision and in service training for staff to ensure adherence to codes, standards, and manufacturer's recommendations. Instructs technical staff to resolve equipment service problems by restoring clinical capability as quickly as possible. Maintains communication with customers regarding repair statuses and proactively addresses technology issues. Coordinates, monitors, and schedules service work (self, vendor, and other technicians) while managing customer and technical staff expectations. Conducts device investigations related to regulations and/or incident reporting. Supervises daily operations, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed in a timely manner. Conducts regular technical staff meetings to address concerns and communicate department objectives. Implements quality control measures to uphold service excellence standards.
  • Installs, repairs, and calibrates a wide variety of complex patient care equipment, medical communications equipment, PCs, and clinical applications networks to board/module level and occasionally component level through an understanding of electronics theory and applications and fundamentals of LAN networking. Reads detailed electronic schematics. Supervise and mentor technical staff during troubleshooting process for equipment, instrumentation, and systems utilizing applicable test equipment.
  • Supervise staff on the performance of, or actively perform, scheduled/preventive maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and quality assurance on all patient care equipment in a timely manner consistent with regulatory standards. Monitors and oversees the work of external contractors/vendors engaged in repair work.
  • Monitors technical staff work order completion to service excellence standards. Ensures documentation for all work performed, maintains parts, supplies, tools, test equipment and technical literature by completing service reports and supplemental productivity documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Maintains an accurate and current parts inventory. Assists management in maintaining a comprehensive library of technical literature. Participates in the "on call" rotation schedule as necessary. Attends local daily management huddles to provide most recent statuses.
  • Supervises and educates technical staff with less expertise in preventative maintenance and repair of medical equipment, and service delivery methods. Maintains and encourages professional growth and development through completion of appropriate seminars, workshops, service schools, and professional affiliations.
  • Ensures proper LEAN Six Sigma application within assigned work spaces, including 5s, inventory management, and work flow optimization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
  • Other / Certificate Degree Certificate or Associated degree from Vocational or Specialized Training in Biomedical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, related study or 7 years progressive biomed experience Required
  • Associates Degree Preferred
EXPERIENCE
  • 7 years Bio-medical equipment maintenance. Required or
  • 10 years Bio-medical equipment maintenance. Preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Drivers License (DL) - License Driver License Will be required to drive locally in own personal vehicle for business necessity. Valid AZ drivers' license, up- to-date insurance, and maintains clean driving history consistent with the organization's insurance requirements. Required
