Behavioral Health Therapist IV Inova Integrated Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Therapist IV to support patients participating in our Bariatrics and Obesity Medicine programs. This role provides specialized behavioral health services to individuals pursuing both surgical and non-surgical weight loss treatments, addressing the complex psychosocial, emotional, and mental health factors that impact long-term success. The Behavioral Health Therapist IV serves as an integral member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, collaborating closely with surgeons, obesity medicine physicians, dietitians, nurses, and other clinical staff to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care across the weight loss journey. This role is full-time: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.- Hybrid with up to four days in office. Behavioral Health Therapist IV Job Responsibilities:
Serves as clinical expert providing a range of therapeutic services, psychoeducational programming and behavioral interventions to assist the patient in achieving progress towards the goals and objectives of individualized treatment plans. Serves as a clinical leader by providing clinical supervision to team members seeking licensure as well as supervision/mentoring of graduate students during clinical internships. Integrates assessments using information related to cultural, clinical, ethnic, age and other factors into the plan of care while providing a range of therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan. Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and behavioral health assessments for patients pursuing bariatric surgery or medical weight management. Provide individual and/or group psychotherapy focused on behavior change, emotional regulation, coping skills, and adjustment to weight loss treatment. Support patients in addressing mental health conditions that may impact treatment adherence or outcomes, including depression, anxiety, trauma history, disordered eating, and substance use concerns. Prepare patients for bariatric surgery through pre-operative evaluations and education, and provide post-operative psychological support as needed Provide clinical consultation to team members regarding psychosocial considerations and behavioral interventions. Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and training activities as appropriate for a senior clinician
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Master's Degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in Mental Health, Social Work, Counseling, Substance Use Disorders or Behavioral Health related field.
- Experience: Five years of experience post licensure in mental health/substance use disorder treatment, psychoeducational programming including targeted, evidence-based interventions (crisis intervention, trauma, and integrative therapies).
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association within 3 months of hire. Crisis Prevention Institute within 6 months of hire. CPI in-person training for non-violent crisis intervention, receive CPI blue card within 6 months of hire.
- Licensure: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP). Approved Clinical Supervisor Within 3 Months
