The Senior Director, IT Clinical Applications provides executive leadership and strategic direction for the planning, implementation, and optimization of revenue cycle enterprise applications across the health system. This role ensures alignment of technology initiatives with organizational goals, oversees application portfolio governance, and drives value realization through innovation, compliance, and operational excellence. The Senior Director collaborates with cross-functional leaders to enhance clinical and business outcomes, reduce technical debt, and ensure the effective use of IT resources. This position is eligible for remote work for candidates residing in the following states: DC, DE, FL, GA, MD, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WV. This role will require on-site visits as needed, averaging 4-6 times per year. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership
- Partner with operational executive stakeholders to co-create and maintain the revenue cycle application roadmap across Epic and all third-party systems
- Partner with leaders across Finance, Operations, and Clinical teams to improve enterprise performance through aligned priorities and execution
- Identify and advance opportunities for automation, AI, and digital transformation across the revenue cycle ecosystem
Epic & Third-Party Application Ownership
- Provide end-to-end ownership of Epic Revenue Cycle and Patient Access modules (e.g., Resolute Professional Billing, Hospital Billing, Claims, Access) and all supporting third-party applications (e.g., clearinghouses, denial management, coding, CDI, payment integrity, patient financial experience tools)
- Ensure seamless integration across scheduling, registration, eligibility, authorization, billing, and collections
- Drive standardization and reduce fragmentation across access and revenue cycle systems
Governance & Collaboration
- Lead and support governance across Epic and third-party access and revenue cycle portfolios
- Drive disciplined intake, prioritization, and value realization processes
- Partner closely with Patient Access leadership, Revenue Cycle Operations, Finance, Compliance, and Clinical Informatics
Vendor & Partnership Management
- Own relationships with Epic and all third-party vendors supporting access and revenue cycle
- Ensure vendor performance, contract optimization, and alignment to enterprise strategy
- Coordinate evaluation, provide recommendations, and lead implementation of new technologies that enhance access and financial experience
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing team supporting access and revenue cycle applications
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational partnership
- Build leadership bench strength and succession plans
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or 4 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum experience requirement
- 8 years of IT experience with a background in leading technology in one or more of the following areas: nursing, ancillary services, finance and/or hospital administration.
- 5 years of IT leadership experience.
- Epic Certification or Accreditation within 6 months of start
Preferred Qualifications:
- Epic certification(s) in Resolute, Prelude, Cadence, or related modules, with deep expertise across Revenue Cycle and Patient Access
- Proven ability to manage complex application ecosystems, including third-party revenue cycle and access technologies
- Demonstrated success driving improvements in both financial performance and patient access outcomes
- Experience with leading third-party solutions (e.g., clearinghouses, denial management, coding/CDI, patient financial engagement tools)
- Background working within large, integrated health systems
