Orthotics and Prosthetic residents, are specifically educated and trained to manage comprehensive orthotic and prosthetic patient care. Their duties include assessing patients, formulating treatment plans, designing and fabricating orthopedic and prosthetic devices based on patient needs and physician prescriptions, and conducting follow-up sessions. Orthotic and prosthetics residents support patients in device usage instructions and device repair and maintenance under the supervision of a Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist.
This residency is a NCOPE accredited residency program. It is a 24-month dual discipline residency, with 12-months per discipline, supervised program in a comprehensive orthotic and prosthetic accredited facility. The NCOPE accredited residency program allows you to acquire practical clinical training in orthotics and prosthetics which is part of the overall education required for ABC Orthotist and Prosthetist Certification. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
WORKING CONDITIONS: This job is in a fast-paced setting with equal division between patient care, technical work and computers. Patient care tasks will include; frequent bending, lifting, twisting, to include moving the patient on and off an exam table to measure and fit devices as well as shifting the patient on the exam table.
