$24.43 - $38.34

POSITION SUMMARY

Assists the Infrastructure department in the review, verification, preparation, computation and filing of all utility bills and related records for the Authority's facilities.

Qualifications

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Receives and assists in the monitoring, verification, preparation and computation of electricity, gas, water and sewer bill accounts for locations throughout the city and follows-up with suppliers to resolve billing or metering issues.

* Compares and reviews figures to data supplied by various utility companies (sewage, water, natural gas and electricity) for accuracy and completeness.

* Assists in the preparation of statements for billing outside consumers for utility services supplied by the Authority.

* Assists in the preparation and compilation of various statements and statistical data for the Infrastructure department.

* Maintains orderly records and copies of statements for internal and external users as required.

* Assists in the preparation of purchase requisitions, check requests and other forms.

* Performs field surveys and inspections of utility services when necessary.

* Operates calculators, computers, document reproducers and other office related equipment.

* Performs related duties as assigned.

* Required to possess a combination of education, training and experience relating to this position.

* Must have experience applying accounting principles and procedures utilizing data process systems.

* Required to complete and maintain Rail Safety Training certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* Must pass a physical examination and perform the physical activities associated with this position.

* Most of the work is performed while seated at a desk or computer terminal.

* Lifts and carries supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

* Required to have a comprehensive knowledge of basic arithmetic including fractions, decimals, percentages, and statistical calculations.

* Required to be accurate in the verification, posting and filing data.

* Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to competently operate personal computer systems to develop and maintain business applications using standard software, such as Windows, Web Browsers, Email and Microsoft Office Applications including, but not limited to, Outlook, Word and Excel.

* Must have the skills necessary to clearly and comprehensively communicate both orally and in written reports.

* Required to possess a suitable temperament and disposition to maintain amiable relations with Authority personnel.

WORKING CONDITIONS

* Usual office working conditions.

* May work in close proximity to energized rails and other equipment.

* Required to travel to various locations throughout the Authority's system as well as the Chicago Metropolitan Area in the performance of duties.

* Subject to normal shop and subway conditions such as noise, dust, moving vehicles, etc. when visiting field locations.

* Subject to various weather conditions when visiting field locations.

Rate to be determined by applicant's entered service date and service date in union jurisdiction of this classification.
