Materials Equipment Operations Manager

Purpose
This position is responsible for providing direct equipment support for Teichert Materials as a single point of contact. Optimizing fleet for the lowest lifetime cost.

Focus & Scope
Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below:
  1. Provides direction, leadership, and coordination of the company's Zero Injury Safety Program in Teichert Materials.
  2. Provide mobile equipment support for Teichert Materials as a single point of contact at all locations.
  3. This support includes, but is not limited to, capital equipment purchase needs, vendor sourcing for major maintenance and troubleshooting, assisting plants in fuel, lube, GET, and minor repairs, and monitoring fleet health.
  4. Developing and manage processes, programs, and reports for all of Teichert Material needs, including but not limited to, rentals, owned fleet, inventoried supplies, vendors, and suppliers.
  5. Attend relevant meetings with Teichert Material management as necessary.
  6. Plan and facilitate face to face meetings with Teichert Material individual managers and groups.
  7. Travel to Teichert Material's locations monthly or as needed to physically review processes and procedures and provide recommendations for improvement to management.
  8. Consult with managers that need equipment. Evaluate equipment rental agreements. Research sharing of existing assets between plants and make recommendations on temporary and permanent assignments to management.
  9. Work with Teichert Asset Group (TAG) to maintain or create most favored status with manufacturers and vendors.
  10. Develop annual budget for mobile equipment within Teichert Materials.
  11. Monitor mobile equipment costs and provide forecasting of actual cost quarterly or as needed.
  12. Work with operations to identify light-duty vehicles for replacement and additions/including truck and body configuration requirements.
  13. Create and implement overall fleet strategy for specification, procurement, deployment, maintenance, and replacement of all mobile equipment at Teichert Materials.
  14. Understands, coordinates, analyzes and supports fleet management systems such as telematics, onboard equipment diagnostics, GPS control systems, payload monitoring and preventative maintenance software and fuel systems.
  15. Explores merging technologies in equipment operation, KPI tracking, predictive maintenance, cost modeling, alternative fuels and autonomous equipment.
  16. Reviews and approves invoices to validate company expenditures.
  17. Responsible for creating Capital Expenditure plan for mobile equipment. Work with TAG to place orders and monitor deliveries.
  18. Maintain Capital Expenditure Spreadsheet for all requests for Mobile Equipment.
  19. Provide feedback to Directors of Operations regarding Fleet Condition and future fleet purchase needs.

Role Qualifications & Requirements

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in mining, construction management, engineering, business or a related field or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
Experience and Industry Expertise:
  • Minimum of eight (8) years administrative/supervisory experience in a similar construction/Mobile Equipment facility or an equivalent combination of training and related experience.
  • An understanding of mining, construction and mobile equipment operation practices and policies as well as a working knowledge of various Collective Bargaining Agreements.

Specific Job Requirements:
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation.
  • Must be proficient in computer software skills including Word, Excel and Outlook as well as industry and business specific analytical tools.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership abilities including the ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work in a team and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and management.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate and work well under pressure, remaining composed and professional.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must possess strong verbal communication skills with a diverse workforce.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and time management practices.
  • A valid Driver's License and the ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.

Equipment Used, Physical Demands, and Work Environment

Equipment Used:
  • General office equipment, telephone, automobile, personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection) when visiting plants.
Physical Demands & Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Physical: Sitting for long periods of time working on the computer or attending meetings. Job site visits require walking on uneven ground, steep slopes, and exposure to extreme temperature and/or humidity. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Work Environment: Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise. Demands of meeting tight deadlines. Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time. May work various hours, including early mornings, dusk or evenings.

BASE SALARY RANGE:
$120,833.00 - $169,167.00
The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonable expects to pay for the position. The actual base salary is subject to variation due to the role, level, geographic location, relevant education, training, or experience, among other factors.
