Overview
HOURLY RATE: $87.00 Position Summary: ObGyn Specialists, Inc. is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) licensed in the State of California to provide comprehensive women's healthcare within their independent scope of practice, while collaborating with OBGYN physicians for consultation, referral, and continuity of care as clinically indicated.
Responsibilities
Scope of Practice & Responsibilities: Clinical Practice Authority
- Practice as a Licensed Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) under the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
- Provide care with physician supervision, while maintaining professional collaboration with OBGYN physicians
- Practice autonomously within the CNM scope, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of women's health conditions
Women's Health & Midwifery Services
- Provide fullscope midwifery care, including:
- Prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care for low to moderaterisk pregnancies
- Postpartum followup, including breastfeeding support
- Exams and preventive care
- Family planning, contraception (including IUDs and implants), and preconception counseling
- Menopause and perimenopause management
- Gynecologic evaluations for routine and selected acute conditions
- Identify and refer highrisk conditions to OBGYN physicians and specialists per clinical guidelines
Prescriptive Authority
- Prescribe, furnish, and administer medications in accordance with California law
- Maintain and utilize:
- Furnishing Number
- DEA registration (Schedules II-V as applicable)
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures related to scope of practice
Collaboration & Care Coordination
- Work in a collaborative practice model with OBGYN physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary providers
- Participate in case reviews, clinical meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
- Coordinate referrals, imaging, labs, and continuity of care across settings
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR in compliance with:
- California BRN regulations
- Practice policies
- Federal and state healthcare regulations
- Participate in peer review, quality assurance, and continuing education activities
Qualifications
Required Qualifications (CaliforniaSpecific)
- Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) certification through AMCB
- Current, unrestricted California RN and CNM license
- Master's or Doctorate degree in NurseMidwifery
- California NurseMidwife Furnishing Number
- Active DEA license (or eligibility to obtain)
- Eligibility for hospital privileges (if applicable)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a California OBGYN group or hospitalbased practice
- Familiarity with California scope, documentation, and billing practices
- Experience working collaboratively with physicianled teams
