The Maintenance Operations Manager (M2) leads production support, maintenance, and reliability activities within a highly automated Central Fill pharmacy environment. This role is accountable for maximizing equipment uptime, throughput, quality, and ontime delivery while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and customer service standards.

Reporting to site leadership, this role manages multiple supervisory teams across Operations, Maintenance, and IT and partners crossfunctionally to meet business objectives and customer servicelevel agreements (SLAs). Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, operational leadership, and the ability to develop highperforming teams in a 24/7 automated environment.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities) Operations & Service Leadership
  • Lead daily production support and maintenance activities to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and cost targets
  • Monitor and drive improvement against key operational KPIs (uptime, throughput, OEEtype metrics, cost per script, safety)
  • Partner with Operations Supervisors to align staffing, workflow execution, and performance expectations
  • Ensure coordinated handoffs across operations, maintenance, IT, and transportation to meet SLAs
Maintenance, Reliability & Automation
  • Own maintenance strategy and execution for mechanical, electrical, controls, and automation systems, including robotics, conveyors, pneumatics, and packaging equipment
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to improve reliability and reduce downtime
  • Lead troubleshooting of AllenBradley PLC systems, industrial networks, sensors, and I/O devices
  • Ensure accurate spareparts inventory management and cost control
  • Manage vendor relationships, escalations, and service contracts
Systems, Metrics & Continuous Improvement
  • Optimize CMMS utilization for asset management, work orders, and performance reporting
  • Track and improve metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, backlog, PM compliance, and repeat failures
  • Apply structured problemsolving methodologies (Root Cause Analysis, 5Why)
  • Support automation upgrades, system enhancements, and reliability improvement initiatives
People, Safety & Compliance Leadership
  • Lead and develop Operations Supervisors, Maintenance Supervisors, IT leadership, and technical teams
  • Provide clear priorities, coaching, and performance management
  • Enforce LOTO and site safety programs; maintain audit readiness and change control
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Customer & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary daytoday operational and maintenance contact for the customer
  • Communicate risks, outages, recovery plans, and performance updates with transparency
  • Support customer audits, investigations, and business reviews
Basic Requirements

(Aligned to Career Framework - Minimum Education & Typical Experience or Equivalent Combination)

These must be clearly visible on a resume:

  • 6+ years of experience in automated operations, maintenance, or reliability environments
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience, managing supervisors or technical teams
  • Demonstrated success improving equipment performance, uptime, and operational KPIs
  • Handson knowledge of industrial automation, controls, and maintenance systems
Preferred Skills / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in Central Fill pharmacy, healthcare distribution, or automated fulfillment environments
  • Proficiency with CMMS platforms and Microsoft Office; SQL or dataquery experience preferred
  • Experience managing spareparts programs and technical documentation
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
Work Environment, Travel & Physical Requirements
  • Fastpaced automated production environment with frequent floor presence
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
  • Day shift with oncall rotation for critical issues
  • Occasional travel (up to 10%)

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $64,900 - $108,100
