Description

The Senior Power System Specialist is an expert level engineering resource that develops long-term relationships with project installation teams, both domestic and international. This individual implements site-specific safety plans for the installation of Western States' most complex Power Systems products and leads the installation & startup commissioning process. This position enables the company to manage project costs while providing the highest level of customer satisfaction through process improvement, innovation, and teamwork. In meeting the goals of this objective, the Senior Power System Specialist creates experiences that builds product confidence and drives customer loyalty.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Strategizes with sales representatives to develop a winning strategy on technical and complex projects.
  • Maintains communication with local engineering and contractor community as a highly skilled & experienced technical resource.
  • Provides jobsite safety awareness of Power System products to be delivered. Instructs & educates owners on operational parameters of the new installation. Engages with owner and PSSR to secure a Customer Service Agreement.
  • Manages open orders and proactively updates customers/sales representatives on project timelines.
  • Prepares complex technical submittals for project review and approval by all stakeholders.
  • Directs electrical contractors, owners and engineers through the technical approval process.
  • Creates complex project installation and control wiring diagrams that ensures proper installation of advanced Power Systems.
  • Travels to jobsites to obtain stakeholder's project expectations, develops schedules and consults customer on project schedule / milestones.
  • Provides Power Rental team with technical guidance and sizing assistance on advanced multi-unit rental opportunities.
  • Searches for innovative ideas and develops improvements to processes to ensure continued confidence with stakeholders.
  • Inspects and commissions the installed equipment, ensuring products are safely installed and placed into service, in accordance to manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Schedules warranty repair work Service Department as required.
  • Works independently on advanced temporary international assignments.
  • Performs and assists Industrial Original Equipment Manufacturers on installation of engines and compliance with Tier 4 audits.
  • Inspects, receives, and creates Equipment Management Records on all products received at the jobsite.
  • Actively cares and advocates safety at Western States. Adhere to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.
  • Serves as a team member in support of Western States' strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Works within and promote corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.
  • Assists other departments as a technical expert when requested and performs other duties as assigned.



KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • In depth knowledge of electricity, electrical safety, and electrical power generation operations.
  • Skills and abilities to use diagnostic tools (Multimeters, DbA Meter) ect in performance of tasks.
  • Proven skills in written and verbal communications, planning, organizing, negotiation, listening, and interpersonal relationship building.
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems required. AutoCAD and PDF Professional experience required.
  • A strong commitment and experience in working safely around low and medium voltage electrical systems is required.
  • In depth knowledge and proven experience in the design, application and commissioning highly complex paralleling switchgear systems.
  • Advanced knowledge and applications of Caterpillar software tools such as ET, CSQ, Spec Sizer, EOMP, AX and CODA.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities in a high pressure high risk environment.
  • Must be able to visualize, multi-task, advanced attention to details skills and be able to set and manage priorities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive effective working relationships in support of our vision.
  • Consistent attendance with ability to travel both domestically and internationally.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • AAS Degree in Power System Related Industry or current electrical license preferred.
  • 10 year power systems generator installation experience required. Caterpillar environment experience preferred.
  • Acceptable driving record and valid driver's license required.
  • Must own required tools.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).
  • Capable of obtaining required security clearances for the Department of Defense and State Department
  • AutoCAD and PDF Professional experience a required.



PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:



  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time along with walking, standing, climbing stairs, reaching pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs. in accordance with Western States' Lifting Safe Work Practice to include amount and approach.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
