Assistant Executive Director Job Objective(s)

Responsible for supporting the overall operations of the community, including coordination of internal services (health services, dining services, and facilities services), resident and family communication, operational oversight, and assisting the Executive Director with budgeting, financial oversight, and monthly reporting.

Job Details

Hours: Monday - Friday, with flexibility for after-hours needs and special events
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000/year

Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in a related field plus at least one year of experience working in Senior Housing and/or Assisted Living, or at least one year of direct experience in Senior Housing or Assisted Living Services
  • Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) certification or willingness to obtain
  • Experience effectively relating to an aging population
  • Knowledge of the Housing with Services model of service delivery as structured in the State of Minnesota under MN Statute 144G
  • Healthcare background and/or familiarity with medical conditions and disabilities preferred
  • Significant knowledge of community resources and care options
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with comfort in public speaking and community networking
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with residents, families, and staff
  • Proficiency in computer programs and systems
  • Ability to facilitate resident and family conferences
  • Ability to read, write, spell, do basic math, and understand English
Job Responsibilities and Duties
  • Adhere to all company personnel directives as outlined in the Employee Handbook and ensure team compliance
  • Maintain strong positive relationships with residents, families, staff, community contacts, ownership groups, and Great Lakes Management while representing the organization in a manner consistent with its mission and values
  • Supervise staff, provide direction and coaching, administer corrective action when needed, and evaluate performance on a regular basis
  • Assist in identifying staffing needs and support recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and evaluation of departmental employees as needed
  • Support the Executive Director with overall community operations, budgeting processes, financial oversight, variance management, and monthly reporting
  • Assist with monitoring departmental performance and operational efficiencies to support community goals and budget expectations
  • Work directly with residents and families as needed to address concerns, support transitions, and assist with housing decisions
  • Coordinate the continuum of personal and health services to assure appropriate placement within the community while keeping the Executive Director and Director of Nursing informed of resident concerns or changes
  • In coordination with nursing leadership, collaborate with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and social workers regarding resident discharge planning and placement
  • Participate in the pre-admission process to ensure prospective residents meet residency requirements and are appropriate for services offered
  • Welcome and orient new residents upon move-in and oversee a positive transition experience for residents and families
  • Complete and process all required resident services documentation, reports, and communication in a timely and organized manner according to Great Lakes Management procedures
  • Provide regular operational updates and reporting to the Executive Director regarding resident services activity, occupancy, staffing, and operational changes
  • Develop procedures and systems that improve organization, communication, resident follow-up, and operational consistency across departments
  • Assist in developing and coordinating internal communication initiatives in collaboration with community leadership teams
  • Support community leadership presence during tours, family meetings, resident concerns, and operational follow-up as needed
  • Serve as a leader and resource within the community while promoting Great Lakes Management's mission, values, and culture
Working Hours

Typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. The work schedule and hours may vary periodically from week to week. This position may require work beyond the normal schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or special events as needed.
