Director, Product Management - Cardiovascular

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated
United States, Ohio, Cleveland
500 Plaza Drive (Show on map)
Jul 13, 2026
Job Description

Quest Diagnostics' Clinical Solutions division manages diagnostic tests and other solutions that help hundreds of millions of patients gain insights into their health each year. Product Directors own a large clinical segment and a portfolio of diagnostic tests and solutions. The Product Director for Cardiovascular will manage a ~$600M portfolio within our multi-billion-dollar Cardiometabolic, Endocrinology, and Wellness department. This role will oversee testing for various aspects of Cardiovascular health like dyslipidemia, heart failure, vascular inflammation, cardiometabolic disease, and cardiogenetics. This role will oversee 2 product managers, determine the proper assignment of these managers to the portfolio, and manage their performance.

To be successful, this individual will partner closely with Medical, Operations, IT, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and many other cross-functional partners to build the business case for, secure approval of, and manage the launch of new solutions. The Product Director will also maintain relationships and opportunistically collaborate with medical associations, pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, and many other external organizations.

Why should you apply for this role? This is an opportunity to be the "mini-GM" of a billion-dollar portfolio, gain exposure to nearly every corner of the healthcare industry, and build meaningful relationships with partners at medical associations and pharmaceutical companies, all while positively impacting millions of lives - after all, according to the CDC, 70% of medical decisions depend on laboratory test results. You will be joining a close-knit, high-performing team that consistently exceeds department goals and is foundational to Quest's overall performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Drive for profitable growth in the assigned clinical area (Cardiovascular) by recommending and overseeing various initiatives including marketing and sales campaigns, operations improvement projects, R&D and innovation, and partnerships and M&A activity.
  • Oversee, develop, and coach a team of 2 product managers who are typically responsible for the following:
  • Identifying, evaluating, and building business cases for new opportunities

  • Building the clinical/medical use case with our medical team

  • Partnering with Operations and IT to build new solutions and monitor progress

  • Collaborating with Sales and Marketing to develop an appropriate promotion strategy

  • Leading the launch team and ensuring that pricing, coding, reporting, training, advertising/promotion, channel strategies and tactics are launch-ready

  • Monitoring revenue and profitability in partnership with Finance, Medical Affairs, Pricing, and other groups, and implementing adjustments as needed

  • Contribute to the development of the department's Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and long-term view of the market by:
    • Conducting market research to stay abreast of market trends and the competitive landscape

    • Maintaining close relationships with external partners like medical associations and pharmaceutical companies to gain insights

    • Establishing or maintaining medical advisory committees and patient advocacy groups, if needed

  • Contribute to our team culture by participating in and sometimes leading:
    • Company-wide events like our Annual Heart Health Walk and National Diabetes Month employee webinar
    • Department events like our semi-annual in-person meetings and monthly virtual meetings
    • Company-wide Employee Business Networks (e.g., Young Professionals, HealthyQuest, QuestCAN [non-profit / philanthropy engagement], Women in Leadership, and many others)

Qualifications:

Because of the multi-faceted nature of this role, it's unlikely that a candidate will have mastered every single skill that this role involves on the first day. The most important qualification is a willingness to learn and work diligently.

Some other qualifications for consideration are:

  • A bachelor's degree is required. A degree in life sciences, finance, business, marketing, or product management may be most relevant
  • An advanced degree such as an MBA is not required, but many of our product directors do have an advanced degree
  • A typical product director has 8+ years of work experience, most of which has been in the healthcare industry, with 4+ years specifically in marketing and product management
  • Because this role manages a team from day 1, previous people management experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to become knowledgeable in the clinical aspects of the assigned clinical area (Cardiovascular)
  • Strong project management skills, including engaging the right stakeholders, assigning and following up on action items, and building project timelines
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, especially in PowerPoint
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze financial data in Excel, and ability to create and defend financial forecasts
  • Working with many cross-functional partners who have many different working styles and personalities
