Description

The Nursing Informaticist (NI) leverages clinical nursing expertise together with data, technology, and critical thinking to drive the effective adoption of digital solutions that enhance the experience of patients, families, and clinicians.

In this role, the NI partners with clinical and operational teams to identify information needs, define healthcare data challenges, and design, implement, and optimize informatics solutions. This includes improving data structures, workflows, and systems that support care delivery, access, and performance evaluation.

The NI serves as a catalyst for change-advancing the use of information and communication technologies to improve outcomes across populations, communities, and families while supporting high-quality, efficient patient care.

Qualifications

  • RN License
  • ANCC Nursing Informatics Certification Preferred
  • Degree: MSN preferred, BSN required
  • Informatics experience required
  • Epic experience required
  • Office 365 experience required

  • Five years of recent full-time nursing experience preferred; acute care hospital experience preferred

  • Previous participation and/or leadership in an organizational committee

  • Basic project management skills (ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues list, manage project plan)

  • Demonstrated skill in system workflow and business process flow analysis and design

  • Prior experience with IT systems and systems development projects

  • Effective leadership skills and strong customer service orientation

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and shape consensus, leading group discussions and presenting in front of groups of clinical and business operations leaders from across the organization

  • Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain a spirit of cooperation and respect, flourish in an unstructured environment, and always engage in professional and ethical conduct

  • Ability to remain calm in difficult and stressful situations

  • Must recognize and evaluate problems, and refer to the appropriate channels for action

  • High functioning team skills, including active listening, rapport building, effective written & verbal communication, receiving and delegating work assignments

  • Ability to probe for information about the underlying needs of the organization

  • Ability to identify, document, resolve and/or escalate issues and maintain a complete issues log

  • Ability to research organize, analyze, and synthesize data to support effective decision making

  • Ability to manage multiple and competing tasks

  • Ability to work effectively as a team player and work with people of all backgrounds and at all levels

  • Strong communication and follow-up skills

  • Detail oriented with expertise in probing for information to understand end-to-end workflow requirements
