At the Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area through the protection of the Columbia River and the remediation of the Central Plateau. CPCCo is seeking an experienced and dynamic Communications Director to lead our Communications and Public Relations team as we advance our mission at the DOE's Hanford Site. The Communications Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's internal and external messaging, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and driving positive public perception of CPCCo's cleanup efforts.
The Communications Director's roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive communications strategies that effectively convey CPCCo's safety, performance, and mission objectives; * Partner with executive leadership to enhance employee morale, promote engagement, foster open communication, and support organizational culture transformation; * Serve as the primary point of contact for public involvement, providing guidance to CPCCo leaders; * Build and maintain relationships with regulators, governmental agencies, community groups, and other key stakeholders; * Lead the development and deployment of public involvement programs that support regulatory decision-making and transparency; * Oversee the creation and distribution of specialized public information and consultation materials for technical documents and regulatory processes; * Direct and mentor a team of communications and creative professionals, fostering collaboration and professional development; * Manage department budgets, subcontracts, and resources to ensure efficient and effective operations; * Assign, track, and review communication projects to meet company objectives and timelines; * Provide crisis communications support for urgent or high-profile company matters; * Support and coordinate special initiatives, including DOE exhibits and other projects, from conception through execution; * Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all public-facing content and materials; and * Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
* Director Grade 24: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related discipline; and 14 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public affairs, or related roles, preferably within a regulated industry or government environment.
Desired Qualifications
* Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic communications plans. * Extensive experience developing and managing public involvement programs and resolving public comments. * Experience in tribal relations and coordinating Site Specific Advisory Board efforts.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.
Expected annualized pay range based on full time schedule (40 hours per week):
* Grade 24: $181,550 - $317,550.
In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
