Summary A Project Appointment-STUDENT (PA-STUDENT) classification is utilized at MCW for students for the purposes of furthering his or her education. In order to qualify for this position, student status must be proven. Primary Responsibilities Design and perform laboratory procedures and experiments with minimal supervision. Manage andoperatelaboratory equipment with minimal supervision. Participate in meetings with principalinvestigatorand research staff. Perform advanced medical image processing and analysis of human data to support the development of high-fidelity Finite Element components. Conduct computational modeling studies currently ongoing in the Department of Neurosurgery, specifically focused on FEA validation. Evaluate and interpret the validity of data, develop methodologies, and evaluate laboratory procedures. Retrieve information from library and computerized databases; assist in preparation of manuscripts and presentations. Maintain equipment, perform/supervise repairs,and update computer hardware and software. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge - Skills - Abilities Required knowledge includes proficiency in biomechanics, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and injury risk assessment, with a strong background in mathematics and statistics. The candidate must demonstrate advanced technical skills in LS-DYNA, ANSA, and HyperMesh for computational simulations, alongside expertise in MATLAB and Python for data utilization and medical image analysis. Effective documentation, records management, data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills Qualifications Minimum Required Education: Must have student status at an accredited educational institution Preferred Education: Biomechanics. Physical Requirements Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously. Work Environment Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment. Sensory Acuity Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
