Job Summary: The Manger-Outpatient Clinic, in collaboration with Director, provides administrative, human resource and financial management for the hospital-based outpatient clinic. Ensures staff relate courteously, compassionately and tactfully with patients and families and emotional comfort and caring is conveyed to patients through verbal and nonverbal communication. Participates in strategic planning process and aligns service goals and objectives with the mission, vision and values of the organization. Supports and participates in research approved by the Internal Review Board (IRB) and facilitates patient participation in LLUMC trials. Ensures compliance with requirements of planning, regulatory, inspecting agencies, hospital and department policies. Mentors and coaches staff in transforming culture, processes and clinical practice that meets the demands of cutting-edge health care delivery and nursing excellence in the outpatient clinic environment. Supports and inspires professional governance groups to attain required nursing excellence standards to achieve Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Provides leadership in the conversion of care to evidence-based practice with emphasis on safety initiatives, quality care and best practices supported by innovative technology. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, or, Associate's Degree in Nursing and a Bachelor's Degree in healthcare related field and a Master's Degree in Nursing required. Minimum three years nursing experience which has provided opportunity to demonstrate competencies in ambulatory setting, leadership, or education required. Knowledge and Skills: Substantial knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations, finance, performance improvement, quality, patient safety, evidenced-based clinical practice standards, medical staff structure and legal aspects of care required. Knowledge of adult learning principles, management and problem-solving methodologies. Exhibits professional behavior and appearance at all times. Able to speak, read and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program; relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; use sound judgment based on factual information and clinical knowledge; work independently with minimal supervision; meet deadlines; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; problem solve in a proactive and creative manner; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records and written documents necessary to position; exhibit professional behavior at all times. Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nurse Licensure required. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) from the American Heart Association required. | |
