Department: Utility Services Department Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time Open Until Filled. Utility Code Compliance Officer IV: $27.40 to $30.14 hourly Utility Code Compliance Officer III: $26.14 to $28.75 hourly Utility Code Compliance Officer II: $25.01 to $27.51 hourly Utility Code Compliance Officer I: $23.86 to $26.25 hourly Please see the requirements listed below. Positions are located at the Government Center/Viera/Travels Countywide. Work Schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Performs skilled technical work inspecting, investigating, and enforcing codes, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to fats, oils, grease (FOG), industrial discharges, and other inputs to the County wastewater system, and related health and safety requirements. REQUIREMENTS: Two (2) years [60 semester or 90 quarter hours] of college-level credit with major coursework in Sociology, Psychology, Allied Legal Services, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Biology, Geology, Physics, or a closely related field PLUS: Utility Code Compliance Officer IV: Eight (8) years of experience in investigations or in civil investigation, criminal investigation, with knowledge of wastewater codes and regulations, or a closely related field interpreting and explaining rules, codes, and/or regulations, including three (3) years of experience in performing compliance inspections; OR ten (10) years of experience as a local government licensing investigator, building code inspector, code enforcement officer, wastewater line, or maintenance worker, or a closely related field. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, the following: a Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE) Fundamentals of Code Enforcement (previously Level I) certification; a Florida Industrial Pretreatment Association (FIPA) FOG Management II certification; a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Stormwater Management Inspector License; a Florida Industrial Pretreatment Association (FIPA) IPP Level B certification. Must successfully complete, within twenty-four (24) months of employment, all of the classes for all three (3) phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on each phase examination. Must successfully complete, within eighteen (18) months of employment or promotion, any one (1) of the following approved Brevard County leadership courses: 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, 5 Choices to Extraordinary Productivity, Emotional Intelligence, The Multiplier Effect, What's Your Sign?, or another approved Brevard County course. Utility Code Compliance Officer III: Six (6) years of experience in investigations or in civil investigation, criminal investigation, the wastewater field with knowledge of building codes and regulations, or a closely related field interpreting and explaining rules, codes, and/or regulations, including two (2) years of experience in performing compliance inspections; OR eight (8) years of experience as a local government licensing investigator, building code inspector, code enforcement officer, wastewater line or maintenance worker, or a closely related field. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, the following: a Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE) Fundamentals of Code Enforcement (previously Level I) certification; a Florida Industrial Pretreatment Association (FIPA) FOG Management II certification; a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Stormwater Management Inspector License; a Florida Industrial Pretreatment Association (FIPA) IPP Level C certification. Must possess or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment or promotion, a Florida Industrial Pretreatment Association (FIPA) IPP Level B certification. Utility Code Compliance Officer II: Four (4) years of experience in investigations or in civil investigation, criminal investigation, the wastewater field with knowledge of wastewater codes and regulations, or a closely related field interpreting and explaining rules, codes and/or regulations, including one (1) year of experience in performing compliance inspections; OR six (6) years of experience as a local government licensing investigator, building code inspector, code enforcement officer, wastewater line or maintenance worker, or a closely related field. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, the following: a Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE) Fundamentals of Code Enforcement (previously Level I) certification; a Florida Industrial Pretreatment Association (FIPA) FOG Management I certification; a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Stormwater Management Inspector License. Must possess or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment or promotion, the following: a Florida Industrial Pretreatment Association (FIPA) FOG Management II certification; a Florida Industrial Pretreatment Association (FIPA) IPP Level C certification. Must successfully complete, within fifteen (15) months of employment, all of the classes for any one (I) phase of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on the phase examination. Utility Code Compliance Officer I: Two (2) years of experience in civil investigation, criminal investigation, the wastewater field with knowledge of wastewater codes and regulations, or a closely related field, interpreting and explaining rules, codes, and/or regulations; OR four (4) years of experience as a local government licensing investigator, building code inspector, code enforcement officer, wastewater line of maintenance worker, or a closely related field; OR Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Biology, Geology, Physics, or a closely related field. Experience performing licensing and/or code enforcement inspections for a public agency is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, the following: a Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE) Fundamentals of Code Enforcement (previously Level I) certification; a Florida Industrial Pretreatment Association (FIPA) FOG Management I certification; a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Stormwater Management Inspector License. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS ALL LEVELS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
