Job Summary

The Quality Tech will perform testing according to Vulcan Industries Quality System procedures to determine the characteristics of in-process and finished products.

Will perform any combination of the following tasks:

  • Inspects products for conformity to customer and engineering specifications.
  • Inspects customer returned goods, completes Quality portion of Returned Material Authorization (RMA) form and communicates RMA inspection results to Project Mangers.
  • Inspect purchased goods and imported product for conformity to engineering specifications.
  • Examines product for flatness, straightness and defects. Verifies dimensions of product, using micrometers, gages, tapes and templates.
  • Assembles products to verify fit of parts, adherence to engineering drawings, adherence to bills of material, and adherence to instruction sheets.
  • Rejects products not meeting specifications and reports defects to appropriate personnel: QA Lead, Plant Manager, Plant Supervisor, or Area Lead.
  • Authorized to inspect, tag, and initial first articles per Vulcan Industries Quality System.
  • Enters inspection results into Global Shop (GSS) quality module (Non-Conforming Material Report, NCMR)
  • Authorized to investigate, determine, and complete NCMR disposition entry into GSS.'
  • Participates in daily Quality Team meetings. Participates in monthly plant Quality review meetings.
Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years demonstrated work history in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a quality role.
  • Perform 4 basic math operations with all units of measure. Compute ratio and percent.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to read blueprints, job and technical instructions.
  • Ability to write test results using simple sentences, series of numbers, names and addresses.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
