Description:

Currently looking for Networking physical touch (Smart Hands) support professional responsible for providing Asset Management and Material Inventory functions as member of the onsite Network team maintaining network environments and supporting second level and third level support teams.

Required Qualifications

* Higher education or degree preferred (but not required) or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider 1-3 years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.

* 2+ years of experience in racking, stacking, connecting, and providing basic support of networking hardware and cabling.

* Candidate will be part of onsite team maintaining network environments (Office, Lab, Datacenter, IT comm rooms, Factory) in support of Layer 1 physical touch (Smart Hands) support.

* Primary role as L2 will consist of Asset Management, Material Inventory, Receiving and material transfers of network devices/components, RMA's, Monthly & Quarterly IT Room Audits, and fulfilling customer Service Requests.

* He/she will be asked to assist and provide Service Request Support working with onsite team members and or remote Network Support Teams to install hardware or patch cables to enable new services for customers.

* He/she will be asked to assist and provide Incident/Task support by working with onsite team members and or remote Level 2/3 teams to assist in resolving outages fixing issues including replacement of cabling or hardware components.

* Candidate will be asked to assist and participate in Hardware Rack & Stack installation of Network equipment, cable management, and installation of required Fiber and Copper Patch cables, providing console access to Remote Team for configuration if required and testing connectivity after installation and configuration.

Primary Role and tasks required:

* Receive Hardware shipments for data center equipment landings

* Locate and Validation of Purchase Orders, documenting accuracy of all hardware and components received

* Updating and maintaining accurate Asset records in ServiceNow asset database

* Unboxing and Recycling of materials

* Move Equipment from dock to storage rooms, staging areas and or to DC racks

* Installation or retrofitting of network/server racks - rail and shelving installation

* Power and network cable installation and cable management

* Scanning and Labeling of installed devices (network or server)

* Designate parts identified for spare part stock inventory

* Proper e-waste handling and disposal

* Equipment shipping and receiving as needed

* Provide Escort Service for vendors/techs

* Work Request Tasks from ServiceNow ticket system

* Ability to withstand working in a hot enclosed environment for short time spans required (i.e., data center hot isles)

* Must be able to perform work while on a ladder (use of ladders is required for top of rack installations)

* Must be able to work independently as well as in teams of 3-4 and be flexible.

* Must be able to lift 35 lbs. solo.

* Must be willing to travel between buildings using personal car/foot.

* May be required to walk/sit/stand/crawl/kneel for extended periods.

* Must have excellent customer service skills and written/verbal communication skills.

* Requires knowledge of Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word primarily), Windows 10.

The job entails working in datacenters, networking rooms. Should be able to communicate by telephone, email, or face to face.

Preferred Qualifications (but not required for L2)

Knowledge or experience in:

* Structured Network Cabling

o Copper: Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Connector Types - RJ45

o Fiber: Multimode, Single Mode, Connector Types - ST, SC, LC

* WIFI H/W

o Wireless LAN Controllers

o Wireless Access Points

* Networking

o IP Addressing, Layer 2 VLAN etc.

* Experienced in Ethernet Switching H/W

o Chassis, Supervisor, Line Cards, Power Supplies etc.

o Transceiver (SFP/QSFP) Types - SX, LX, SR, LR etc.

* Cable Troubleshooting Knowledge / Experience

o Fluke Testers: Copper - Wire Map, Link Test etc., Fiber - OTDR Testing, Probe and Toner, Visual Fault Locator (VFL)

o Fluke Aircheck: Wireless Testing
