The Staff Accountant performs moderately complex professional accounting functions for the Foundation finance office. Computes and prepares data for journal entries, reviews general ledger and related financial statements.

Job Description Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Reconciles assigned accounts and/or accounting functions. Makes corrections and adjustments to the general ledger.
- Prepares financial reports, balance sheets, budget reports, excel spreadsheets, and accounting summaries.
- Performs detailed analyses of accounting activities. Identifies discrepancies and makes recommendations for correction.
- Audits accounting transactions to ensure compliance with University and Foundation policies, federal and state regulations, and GAAP standards.
- Oversees daily processing and accounting for revenue and expenditures for the department.
- Creates and maintains spreadsheets or databases for supporting documentation, record keeping, auditing, and verification.
- Responds to customer accounting questions and problems. Researches and analyzes the history of accounting transactions, performs queries, and generates supporting documentation.
- Recommends policies, procedures and control systems to improve accounting operations.
- Maintains and troubleshoots daily, monthly and quarterly transactions.
- Reconciles and maintains the Foundation's corporate card program.
- Compiles and distributes monthly Foundation financial reports to University departments.

Additional Job Description Required Qualifications:
- This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting or closely related field and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Accounting experience in a higher education and/or non-profit setting.
- Experience with Workday Finance module.

- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects.
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.

- Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and competing demands are involved.
