Overview & Position Summary
This position provides advanced support within the claims function of a homebuilding organization, focusing on complex insurance,
construction, and warranty claims. The role operates with a high degree of independence, contributing to the protection of company
assets and ensuring adherence to policies and regulatory requirements. It collaborates with multiple business areas to evaluate, resolve,
and mitigate claims while supporting the effectiveness of the claims function.


Primary Responsibilities
* Independently review, evaluate, and process complex claims, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
* Investigate claims involving multiple issues or business areas, analyzing facts to determine appropriate resolutions.
* Collaborate with internal teams, including Construction, Operations, Legal, and Risk Management, to address and resolve
claims.
* Prepare detailed claims documentation, reports, and recommendations for management.
* Provide guidance, coaching, and training for less experienced claims staff.
* Monitor trends and recurring issues, providing insights and recommendations to management.
* Ensure claims activities adhere to regulatory requirements and company standards.
* Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the claims function.


Education & Experience
Required:
* Bachelor's degree.
* Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent (e.g., 9-11 years combining education and experience).
Preferred:
* Experience in homebuilding, construction, or insurance/claims management industries.
* Experience handling complex or high-value claims.
* Additional experience in compliance, risk management, or process improvement.


Skills & Competencies
* Broad knowledge of claims management principles, processes, and best practices.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex, multi-faceted claims.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration with stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in claims resolution.
* Proficiency with claims management software, data analysis, and Microsoft Office applications.

Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple claims efficiently.
* Ability to mentor, coach, and train junior staff within the claims function.
* Ability to collaborate and influence internal teams and stakeholders across functions.
* High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, reporting, and compliance.
* Ability to adapt to evolving priorities, business needs, and complex claims scenarios.

Working Conditions
* Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment, with occasional visits to construction sites or operational locations as needed.
* Exposure to standard office conditions, with limited exposure to construction site hazards.
* Travel between offices or sites may be required to support claims activities.


Physical Requirements
* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
* Ability to walk and navigate office or construction sites as needed.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds (e.g., files, binders).
* Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with computer and desk work.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $65,000-$95,000
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
  • Bonus Type: Year-end Discretionary
