Our client is seeking an AS400 / RPG Technical Lead to support and maintain critical enterprise applications in a high-impact production environment. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity with a strong path for long-term growth and leadership. Key Responsibilities * Provide hands-on support for AS400/IBM i applications, including troubleshooting production issues and resolving batch job failures * Lead and mentor a team of developers (including offshore resources) while setting technical standards and best practices * Act as a point of escalation for system outages, bugs, and performance issues * Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT leadership to ensure system stability and continuous improvement * Support ongoing modernization efforts as legacy systems evolve Required Skills * Strong experience with AS400 / IBM i application development and support * Expertise in RPGLE and RPG Free * Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and work in high-pressure environments * Experience using Jira or similar tools with project coordination exposure * Proven technical leadership and mentorship, including offshore teams Qualifications * 5+ years of AS400 / IBM i development experience * Strong communication and problem-solving skills * Experience working in mission-critical environments where uptime is essential Environment * Hybrid schedule (3 days onsite) * Minimal travel (infrequent, if any) * On-call support as needed for critical systems Why This Role?
