The University of Iowa Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a Simulation Instructor. This position provides didactic and simulation training on maternal topics at participating obstetric hospitals, emergency rooms, and emergency medical services. This is a 25% temporary non-benefited position. Minimum starting rate of $26.74 per hour Position Responsibilities: 1. Participates with leaders of HRSA supported projects to facilitate implementation of the projects with Iowa hospitals and EMS systems. a. Participates in regular meetings of the HRSA MHI team, IMQCC leadership, and Iowa AIM leadership b. Travel to Iowa hospitals and EMS services to facilitate obstetrics simulation training; overnight stays may be needed on occasion. 2. Functional management over the activities within the HRSA grant. a. Assisting with development of new policies and procedures to implement recommendations, which improve the operations of the Obstetrics Simulation training program. b. Adjust to changing circumstances and unexpected events, remaining open to new ideas. c. Display initiative and cooperation in performing assigned duties, take initiative in identifying projects to improve office flow, organize work in order to prioritize assignments in order of importance, report problems in workflow to supervisor, take initiative to seek out new information about duties, complete other duties as assigned by supervisor within agreed upon time frame unless an extension is requested and approved. d. Display a high degree of discretion and independent judgment, treating all matters regarding patients and staff in a confidential manner, obtaining only information necessary for job and discouraging conversation about patients or staff not related to duty. e. Serve as a resource to hospital teams, providers, community stakeholders, and birthing Iowans regarding the work of the IPQCC. f. Respond to concerns regarding program quality and content. g. Maintain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders for the IPQCC, including but not limited to hospital teams, healthcare providers, community stakeholders, and birthing people in Iowa. h. Timely and professional communication with community stakeholders and Iowa hospitals. i. Maintain regular communication with the project leads for the IPQCC and the simulation programs. 3. Completion of projects and duties as expected. a. Perform projects or duties at time and location agreed upon unless extenuating circumstances are demonstrated and approved. b. Perform projects or duties within agreed upon time unless a time extension has been requested and approved. 4. Responds to other related problems as they arise. a. Communicate and facilitate operations with outlying hospitals b. Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, residents, students, and the public c. Act as a liaison between the HRSA MHI team leadership and community stakeholders 5. Serves as a consultant and resource for obstetric simulation in Iowa. a. Participate in the development simulation-based educational programming. b. Participate in developing and delivery of workshops with Iowa birthing hospital leadership to increase their capacity to utilize simulation in their educational sessions. c. Participate in evaluation the impact of simulation-based education on individual facilities and the state. d. Travel with the simulation team to deliver in-situ simulation-based educational programing. e. Provide specific recommendations to facility leads for care and/or process improvement as the result of simulation activities. Required Qualifications: * A bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) * Current license to practice Nursing in Iowa 5+ years of Nursing experience in the perinatal field (maternal and/or newborn) * Valid Driver's license * Ability to travel and stay overnight as needed while conducting simulation training throughout the state Demonstrated expertise in specific clinical area of practice Desired Qualifications: * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Simulation and debriefing experience * Experience utilizing Evidence-Based Practice
