THE POSITION

As a Health Care Surveyor Supervisor with the Department of Health (DOH), you will lead a team committed to protecting the well being of nursing home residents. This role guides field staff as they ensure safe, high quality nursing home services. You will help shape how facilities are inspected and how concerns are addressed. Your leadership will support better care for vulnerable citizens across the region.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role oversees the work of the Division of Nursing Care Facilities within an assigned area and ensures that surveys, inspections, and complaint responses are completed on time and according to policy. The position also manages staff performance, communication, and coordination with other agencies. As a Health Care Surveyor Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Survey Oversight: Direct inspections and surveys of nursing homes for licensure, certification, and civil rights according to mandated time frames
- Complaint Management: Review complaints and determine prompt action in line with established procedures
- Staff Leadership: Review staff work, provide training, monitor performance, and recommend personnel actions
- Office Operations: Establish goals, procedures, and policies for the field office
- Interagency Coordination: Maintain relationships with local, state, and federal agencies and prepare for hearings

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Irregular hours: You will be required to carry and respond to a cellular phone and respond to complaints during off-duty hours as assigned. Statewide travel may be required which may include overnight stays.
- Home Headquartered: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Health Care Surveyor or Health Care Nurse Surveyor (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of health care survey experience and a bachelor's degree; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- All positions require successful completion of the relevant provider-specific federally mandated training provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services within one year of hire.
- You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.
