Overview

The Part-Time Research Assistant will support laboratory, research and journal publishing activities related to cell and molecular biology. This role assists with experimental procedures, biological sample preparation, data collection, manuscript and figure preparation as well as general laboratory organization in support of ongoing research projects.

This is an hourly, part-time position requiring 2-20 hours per week, with flexibility based on project needs and laboratory schedules.



Responsibilities

* Assist with laboratory experiments and research activities in cell and molecular biology
* Assist with manuscript preparation including original human anatomical drawings
* Perform specific cellular and molecular biology techniques under supervision
* Prepare, process, and maintain biological samples and laboratory materials
* Collect, record, and organize research data accurately
* Maintain laboratory organization, supplies, and equipment
* Follow established laboratory safety and compliance procedures



Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a closely related field with a GPA of 3.90 or greater.
* Co-authorship on at least three or more peer-reviewed publications in the area of Cell Biology
* Demonstrated skills in conducting literature reviews, manuscript development, and scientific figure preparation
* Prior laboratory and research experience in cell-cell signaling pathways
* Demonstrated experience with laboratory techniques relevant to cell and molecular biology of mammalian cells



Essential Skills

* Knowledge of cell and molecular biology principles and laboratory practices
* Familiarity with standard laboratory techniques (e.g., mammalian cell culture, RT-PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, pipetting, sterile technique)
* Accurate human anatomical illustration and figure drawing ability
* Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
