This role will be part of the Reservoir engineering team, supporting the Program Director for CCUS and serving as the technical lead for reservoir engineering and subsurface modeling activities supporting EQT's carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) initiatives. The role will focus on reservoir characterization, simulation, injection forecasting, storage capacity assessment, and optimization of Class VI and Class II CO storage and enhanced oil and gas recovery (ER) projects. The CCUS Reservoir Engineer III/Senior/Expert/Advisor responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and apply reservoir simulation models to evaluate CO injection performance, plume migration, pressure response, storage efficiency, and long-term containment for Class VI and Class II projects.
- Support development of Engineering Well Designs (EWDs) for CO injection and monitoring wells through integrated reservoir engineering analysis.
- Provide technical reservoir engineering evaluations to support CCUS project screening, feasibility assessments, and commercial development opportunities aligned with EQT's CCUS strategy.
- Analyze and interpret field test data, injection performance, pressure transient behavior, and production response to calibrate reservoir models and improve predictive capability.
- Quantify and update CO storage capacity, reserves, and resource estimates using reservoir simulation, geologic characterization, and operational data.
- Advance EQT's technical capabilities in CO storage and enhanced recovery (ER) reservoir modeling through benchmarking, workflow development, and integration of industry best practices.
- Lead reservoir modeling and simulation efforts for Class II enhanced recovery projects and associated CO storage in depleted Marcellus and Utica reservoirs.
- Develop static and dynamic reservoir models to evaluate injectivity, containment, pressure management, recovery performance, and long-term storage behavior.
- Generate injection and production forecasts to support well design, operational planning, workover requirements, and commercial evaluations.
- Perform reservoir engineering analyses for Class VI geologic storage projects, including pressure modeling, plume migration assessment, and storage optimization.
- Analyze and interpret results from CCUS field pilots and injection tests, including model calibration, uncertainty analysis, and technical reporting.
- Collaborate with Geoscience, Completions, and Reservoir Engineering teams to integrate data and improve subsurface understanding and model accuracy.
- Interface with external technical consultants, research organizations, and industry partners on reservoir simulation studies and subsurface evaluations.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of reservoir engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in reservoir simulation, forecasting, and subsurface analysis; experience in unconventional and conventional reservoirs is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering field required; Master's degree is preferred.
- Direct experience with CO storage, enhanced recovery, or gas reservoir development projects preferred.
- Strong background in reservoir modeling for Class II and/or Class VI applications, including injection forecasting, pressure management, and storage capacity estimation.
- Familiarity with the Class VI permitting process/requirements and experience supporting the preparation of Class VI permit applications, including the requisite modeling and technical documentation.
- Experience with dynamic simulation tools and integrated reservoir characterization workflows.
- Experience supporting injection well design, injectivity evaluation, and workover planning.
Remote work is being considered for this role excluding the following states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Tennessee unless willing to relocate.
Selected incumbent will be placed into the position that best suits their abilities and experience level.
