Job Summary:

The entry level professional will be responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skills, personal accountability, and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, and managerial functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying, and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions.

  • Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting and communicating results.

  • Perform pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical test process and evaluate results produced.

  • Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas.

  • Provide animal care related to research studies, as necessary.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field

    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis

  • Prior experience with identifying the nuclear import mechanism of Thymocyte Expressed Molecule Involved in Selection (THEMIS) to further understand T cell development.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field

  • Prior experience or background within an experimental or wet lab

  • Previous professional laboratory experience in immunology, stem cell or cancer biology.

  • Experience with CRISPR, transfection and transduction.

  • Previous independent laboratory experience outside of required courses is preferred.

  • FACS experience.

  • Experience in computational analysis, RNA biology is highly preferred. Familiarity or expertise with Illumina DNA sequencing analysis would greatly accelerate this line of research.

  • Previous experience in presenting or publishing biology research, even if not on author list.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution

  • Knowledge with protein cloning, expression, and purification (via Ni-NTA resin affinity chromatography and Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography), Glutathione Resin Pull-down Experimentation, Fluorescence Polarization, Biolayer Interferometry, and Proximity-Dependent Biotinylation

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology

  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

  • Experience with pipetting and aseptic tissue culture

  • Ability to maintain a laboratory notebook

  • Able to take the initiative to address research issues

  • Detail-oriented and organized

  • Ability to work independently

Anticipated Pay Range:

The hiring range for this position has been established as $47,811-$60,816

The above salary range hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
