Job Summary:

Program Assistant 2 for the Departments of Art History and Classics

The Program Assistant 2 for the Department of Art History and the Department of Classics coordinates events and communications efforts for both departments and provides support to the undergraduate programs. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a self-directed environment, exceptional attention to detail, and an interest in having a varied portfolio.

This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week that offers a hybrid schedule with onsite work and some remote work; more information about the work schedule will be discussed during the interview. The target hiring range for this position is $41,238 - 50,112 per year, which is $19.75 - $24 hourly. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Event Planning: Coordinates department events including lectures, graduation events, and other gatherings. Executes all tasks related to event logistics and staffs events as needed.
  • Undergraduate Programs: Provides administration support to the Directors of Undergraduate Studies and other faculty administrators; assists students with a variety of program-related actions and milestones such as major/minor processing, honors thesis, and study abroad.
  • Department Communications: Responds to general inquiries, including those sent to the departmental email accounts; maintains list servs; coordinates content maintenance of websites. Demonstrates authorship, professionalism, and discretion in all communications. Candidates invited to interview will be asked to complete a short unaided writing skills assessment.
  • Supervision: May supervise work-study students.
  • Accounting: Processes account payables &/or receivables. Verifies income &/or expenses; assists with reconciliation of accounts; and investigates & resolves discrepancies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent
  • At least 2 years of administrative support experience

Minimum Competencies:

  • Intermediate knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database software programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with students
  • Previous experience with event planning
  • Background related to art history or classical studies, or the humanities more broadly

Preferred Competencies:

  • Excellent unassisted reasoning and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Flexibility and willingness to work with a team
  • Interest in the intellectual and cultural climate of higher education
  • Superb professionalism
